At the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida on August 30, 2012, Eastwood made an appearance to give a speech to the gathered delegates. As part of his speech, Eastwood, who had endorsed Mitt Romney as the Republican candidate for the 2012 presidential election, delivered an improvised routine where he addressed an empty chair on stage which he intended to represent President Barack Obama. Eastwood used the speech to criticize Obama's performance as President, then he asked the American public to send a message to Obama by voting him out of office for his poor presidential record. Eastwood's presentation hit a raw nerve among Leftists, with liberals protesting far too much on the internet afterward. Eastwood's speech was well received by the crowd at the Tampa Bay Times Forum (where the convention was held) and by much of the public. He also is supporting Donald Trump
