The Left (German: Die Linke) is a far-left German political party. It was founded by a merger of the parties "Labour and Social Justice – The Electoral Alternative", a party of former SPD-members and the "Party of Democratic Socialism", which is the subsequent party of the "Socialist Unity Party of Germany". It has created the organization "Cuba Sí", which supports the dictatorial regime of Cuba. The Left wants to fully legalize abortion and same-sex "marriage" with adoption. Further it demands to legalize drugs and it wants to withdraw from the NATO and abolish the German military (Bundeswehr).

The Left is the fourth strongest party of Germany. Its current leaders are Katja Kipping and Bernd Riexinger.
