A historical term to refer to the [[Soviet Union|USSR ]] in Eastern Europe and its communist allies in Central Europe and the Balkans. The Eastern Bloc existed around for about 45 years - from late 1940s until late 1980s, or early 1990s. It is often confused with the term [[Eastern Europe]].
