The term has also come to mean a divine manifestation or a sudden insight into the essence of something, often triggered by something quite mundane.

Adoration of the Magi by Joseph Moroder Lusenberg Epiphany (from the Greek word to show) is a Christian festival which is celebrated on January 6. It commemorates the visitation of the Magi to the infant Jesus and thus the manifestation or showing of Christ to the gentiles.
