The Hertzsprung–Russell diagram is a type of chart showing the connection of temperature and brightness in stars. The diagram illustrates three groups of stars; the main sequence, the giants and supergiants, and the white dwarfs. It is named after the astronomers Ejnar Herzsprung and Henry Russell[1]
