Jules Isaac (1877-1963) was a well-respected French Historian. After he lost his job in 1940 and his wife, daughter in 1943 because of his and their Jewish heritage, he developed an intellectual interest in Christian Anti-Semitism. His efforts produced his 1948 book Jesus and Israel as well as his work in 1949 with Pope Pius XII that helped lead to the 1955 change in the Good Friday Prayer for the Jews ritual.
