They were a major part of pre-Zen Chan [[Buddhism|Buddhist]] religion in [[China]], although they are not commonly used now. Early oracle bones provided the first [[archaeology|archaeological]] evidence of the [[Shang dynasty]].
Sample oracle bones were later brought to Europe by [[Marco Polo]].
