Thomas Wentworth Higginson (December 22, 1823 - May 9, 1911) was a Colonel in the Civil War, an abolitionist, and an author.[1]
He held radical views from an early age.[2] He had a particular interest in Brook Farm and Fourierism.
Prior to the Civil War, Higginson was a supporter of John Brown, and financially supported Brown's cause.[3]
In 1905, he helped to found the Intercollegiate Socialist Society along with many prominent socialists.
