The '''White Army''' was an army raised in Western [[Russia]] to oppose [[Vladimir Ilyich Lenin|Lenin's]] [[Red Guards]] other external groups also arose in to fight the Red Guards including the [[Anarchism|anarchist]] Black Army under [[Nestor Makhno]]. The White Army was composed of conscripts and volunteers. At first successful, they ultimately lost to the Red Army.
