Athelstaneford

Athelstaneford is a village in East Lothian, Scotland famous for the legendary 9th century battle in which the white cross of St. Patrick is said to have appeared in the cloudless sky, inspiring a win for the Picts and Scots. King Athelstan of England died there retreating from an invasion of Scotland in 939.
