Jean Sammet

Jean Sammet (1928-) is the writer of FORMAC, an extension of the FORTRAN programming language. She was also one of the people who helped design COBOL and she wrote Programming languages: history and fundamentals. In 1989, In recognition of her work with programming languages and her writing she was awarded the Lovelace Award. [1]
