Patmos is an island in Greece, midway between Samos and Kos in the Aegean Sea, where John was exiled during the reign of the Roman Emperor Domition in A.D. 95. The Monastery of St. John the Evangelist and the Cave of St. John are there today, under the jurisdiction of the Greek Orthodox Church, and welcome pilgrimages.

John reportedly received a vision in the cave and wrote the Book of Revelation there.[1]
