In hydrologic terms, an '''Estuaryestuary''' is the thin tidal zone ('''aestus''' - Latin for tide), along a coastline where freshwater river systems and rivers meet and mix with a salty ocean. Examples include bays, river mouths, salt marshes, and lagoons.
