William Duer

William Duer (1747-1799) was a New York delegate to the Continental Congress from 1777-1778, and a signer of the Articles of Confederation. Born in England, he emigrated to America in 1768. There, he served on the Provincial Congress in 1776 and 1777, and the State Senate in 1777. After the Revolutionary War, he served as a member of the State assembly in 1786, and as assistant secretary of the treasury department from 1789-1790.[1]
