Calvin cycle

The Calvin cycle is a 10-step cycle involved in the sunlight-harnessing process of photosynthesis. It proceeds in a clockwise fashion, from the sunlight as it infuses the photosynthetic chlorophyll with photons, through the addition of water and nitrogen, to the release of lots of energy and oxygen into the air. The enzyme rubisco plays an important role, as does carbon dioxide, which become replaced with oxygen at the end of the cycle. Plants execute the Calvin cycle daily, even on cloudy days, in order to survive.
