Agabus (Saint Agabus in Catholic and Orthodox Traditions) is mentioned as being a prophet in the New Testament. Agabus came up from Jerusalem to Antioch and predicted a famine which came to pass during the reign of Claudius (Acts 11:27-28). He is mentioned again coming from Judea to Caesarea years later and prophesying to Paul that if he went to Jerusalem, he would be arrested and bound (Acts 21:10-12). This event also came to pass. No further record of Agabus is found in the Bible. Tradition records that he was martyred at Antioch.
