A tree-sitter is an environmental extremist who literally climbs and sits for long periods of time in a tree to interfere with its being chopped down. When tree-sitting occurs on private land, as it often does, it constitutes criminal trespass. When it occurs on public land, it can violate camping or curfew rules.
