Analytical chemistry is a field of chemistry studying qualitative analysis and quantitive analysis questions - What is it? And how much?
Uses of Analytical Chemistry
It is important these days, to know if there is asbestos in insulation, or lead in paint. Applications such as optical emission spectroscopy (OES) and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) allow an analytical chemist to test the percentage by volume of elements in a sample of metal. The Analytic Chemist helps the government worker; "How many phosphate ions pollute the river?" He helps the archaeologist; "Is there tin in this old farming tool?" The analytic chemist has a job which helps many people.
