Problems with my watchlist
I appear to be having problems with my watchlist. Occasionally I notice articles that are changed are not appearing on my watchlist. It appears to be articles which have been protected. Protected articles that I put on my watchlist, or that I edit, are okay, but articles that I already have on my watchlist that are then protected don't appear, at least sometimes (until I edit them again). [[User:Philip J. ==Edit Privilege Request==

Hi, I don't know if this is the appropriate place to request this, but may I be included among the number of members who have editing privileges "after hours"? I've been with Conservapedia for some time, and am active on my campus conservative organization. Alexander 12:52, 6 February 2008 (EST)

I am very sorry but no further night editing rights are available at this time. Keep working on the site and I'm sure you will eventually get them! Thanks! CPWebmaster 11:18, 8 February 2008 (EST)

Hi. I would like to help with the upkeep of this site. I have some experience in the mediawiki software and would love to help update the site and the interface. Let me know if I can help. Wahrheit (talk) 16:42, 22 February 2008 (EST)

The system said it was going to send an email to me to confirm my address, but it never did. Can you please jumpstart this?

:Hi, just me again. I checked your contibs and you no longer seem to be active, could you point me to whom I should ask to rectify the situation above? Thanks ever so much. Marge 22:50, 14 May 2008 (EDT)

:: Perhaps a spam filter blocked the email? Try a different email address if possible. If that doesn't work, let me know. Thanks. CPWebmaster 10:26, 15 May 2008 (EDT)

:::No nothing in the spam filter bin...are you entirely sure the problem isn't on your end? But not to worry, I'll just post my email address on my talk page where every vandal and miscreant will be able to see it. I'm sure they'll be able to fill my spam-box! You should get back to your homework, dear, and thank you for trying. Marge 20:07, 15 May 2008 (EDT)

CPW - please re-read what I wrote v- those were not my views, i was merely summarizing a lengthy comment that ASchlafly did not have the time to read - and he THANKED ME for doing so, apparently. I clearly said so in my edit. Cheers.AliceBG 23:13, 8 June 2008 (EDT)

Spam Filter
Hi. Philip said to contact you regarding the spam filter. It seems there is an important word missing from it that we don't want vandals to exploit, like this one. Can you add it to the filter? -Foxtrot 01:03, 20 October 2008 (EDT)

: Can we narrow that down a bit to just the word and a particular common variation of it? It's catching too many other words that have those four letters in them.

: Also, can you have a look at the discussion on my talk page about a web-site triggering the spam filter? Is there a reason for this site being blocked? If not, can we remove it, or should we continue with a workaround?

Category Functionality
Another technical question about the wiki. I noticed that :Category:Broadcasting was not appearing in the subcategories list for :Category:Media, despite being a subcategory. Similarly, :Category:Television did not appear in :Category:Broadcasting. I removed the descriptor text from :Category:Television and now it appears as a subcategory of Broadcasting, but I don't know why this would make a difference. Furthermore, Broadcasting doesn't have any descriptive text other than the cats, so I wouldn't know what to do to make it appear listed as a subcat of :Category:Media. Do you have any idea what's going on? I'm baffled. -Foxtrot 12:13, 22 October 2008 (EDT)

: I suspect some sort of caching problem. :Category:Broadcasting was also categorised into :Category:Entertainment, and it was showing up there. So in :Category:Broadcasting I swapped the order of its two categories, to see if that changed which one it showed up in, and it showed up in both! So then I reverted your change to :Category:Television and it still shows up in :Category:Broadcasting. So I suspect that it was the act of editing itself, not what you took out, that caused it to appear. Philip J. Rayment 22:03, 22 October 2008 (EDT)

::I'm not sure what cache you mean... the browser cache? That could cause the problem, but I haven't been able to replicate it. Right now, I'm not using any server-side caching. Let me know if you still have problems. CPWebmaster 22:15, 22 October 2008 (EDT)

::: I don't know what I mean either, but I wasn't meaning the browser cache. When I looked at :Category:Media, :Category:Broadcasting wasn't showing there, and that would not be caused by my browser cache as I hadn't been to the page before. I remember reading something about MediaWiki having a problem with a template being changed that doesn't propagate to the page the template is used on until that page is edited, and I just wondered if this was something similar. Philip J. Rayment 01:29, 23 October 2008 (EDT)

:::: Thanks, Philip, for looking into it. Yes, the behavior does resemble something like server re-caching. Maybe it's just with some upgrade certain categories became partially "forgotten", until someone blows the dust off them and then their good as new. Okay, well it's not a serious problem, but now I know I just have to make a minor edit to fix it. -Foxtrot 20:19, 24 October 2008 (EDT)
