Alexis Tsipras (July 28, 1974 - ) is the far-left minister president of Greece since 2015.

At age 16 he joined the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE). In 1991 the Communist Party of Greece, the mother party of the KNE, separated from the slightly less extreme left "Coalition of Left, of Movements and Ecology" (Synaspismos).[1] Tsipras entered into the new founded party and became chairman in 2008. In 2013 Synaspismos rose along with other parties under the new name "Coalition of the Radical Left", that is also ruled by Tspiras.

In January 2015 Tsipra's party "Coalition of the Radical Left" won the parliamentary elections.[2]
