Azerbaijani War Crimes

Azerbaijan has been involved in perpetrating widespread war crimes in Nagorno-Karabakh against Armenians.

Torture, Beheadings and Executions

  • On October 15, 2020, Azerbaijani soldiers killed an Armenian mother and her disabled son in their home. [1]
  • On October 15, 2020, 2 videos were circulated on Azerbaijani telegram channels. The first shows 2 Armenians being captured by Azerbaijani soldiers. The second shows them being executed. [2][3]
  • October 25, 2020, videos surfaced on Azerbaijani owned channels depicting severe torture of Armenian POW's. The Azerbaijani soldiers can be seen kicking Armenian soldiers heads and bodies, standing on their bodies, stabbing them with a skewer, dragging, insulting and humiliating them. [4]
  • From October 24 to October 27, the Azeri forces executed civilians in Togh village. [5]
  • On October 30, 2020, Azerbaijanis on social media published a video showing the bodies of 19 dead Armenian soldiers.[6]
  • On November 10, 2020, Azeri soldiers tortured an old Armenian man by cutting off one of his ears and slamming his face on the ground. [7]
  • On November 19, 2020 Azeri soldiers dragged and humiliated a disabled 80 year old Armenian man.
  • On November 22, 2020, Azeri soldiers beheaded an Armenian civilian while he was still alive. The Azeri soldiers afterwards placed the cut off head on a dead pig. [8]
  • On December 4, 2020, an Armenian civilian from Karabakh was tortured by Azeri soldiers.[9]
  • On December 7, 2020, Azeri soldiers beheaded an elderly Armenian man.[10]
  • On December 27, 2020, the Azerbaijani Army staged a "foiled diversion" as an excuse to execute 5 Armenian soldiers. [11]
  • An elderly Armenian woman was tortured and killed by the Azerbaijani Army. According to forensic evidence, her feet, hands, left ear and tip of her tongue were cut when she was alive. Her body was found on January 14, 2021. [12]
  • On November 16, 2021, several Armenian soldiers were taken captive by the Azerbaijani Army. The Azerbaijani soldiers were filmed on video battering and bullying the Armenian captives. [13]

Targeting Civilians

  • In October 2020, there were attacks on kindergartens and schools in Artsakh by the Azerbaijani military. [14][15]
  • On October 9, 2021, an Armenian civilian was killed by an Azerbaijani sniper. [16]
  • On November 8, 2021, Azerbaijani soldiers opened fire on Armenian civilians killing 1 and injuring 3.[17]
