Cristóbal de Villalpando

Cristóbal de Villalpando (b. México City 1649 - México City 1714) Mexican painter, s. XVII. He is considered the most important painter of his time in New Spain. His works include religious paintings like: Adoración de los pastores, 1675, Adoración de los Reyes y la Presentación de Jesús al templo, Dolorosa, 1680, Transfiguración, 1683, La mujer del Apocalipsis (The Woman of the Apocalypse), Aparición de San Miguel, ca. 1688, and Santa Teresa escribiendo sus obras ca. 1688.
