Diplomacy

Diplomacy is the conduct by government officials of negotiations and other relations between nations. A person engaging in diplomacy is referred to as a diplomat. One common type of diplomat is an ambassador, who represents his country at foreign capitals.
Generally speaking, when diplomacy fails, wars begin.
American Diplomacy
- As Minister to France, Thomas Jefferson negotiated a commercial treaty with Prussia and the Consular Convention with France. [1]
- During the Cuban Missile Crisis; President John F. Kennedy used diplomacy to defuse the crisis by negotiating a secret deal with the Soviet Union to remove nuclear armed missiles from from Turkey. This helped prevent an all-out war. [2]
- The Cold War came to an end with President Ronald Reagan using diplomacy. As Margaret Thatcher’s words put it "Ronald Reagan had ended the Cold War without firing a shot." [3]
- President Donald Trump meet and shook hands with Kim Jong Un to neutralize the threat of North Korea. [4]
