Healing and the Bible recognizes that the Bible is enormously beneficial for healing of all types. The word "healing" itself, is expressly mentioned 28 times (ESV) (and additional references for variations on the term):

  • Proverbs - 6 times
  • Jeremiah - 5 times
  • Luke - 3
  • Acts - 3
  • 1 Corinthians - 3
  • Matthew - 2
  • Isaiah - 2
  • John - 1 (in an editor's heading about "The Healing at the Pool on the Sabbath" by Jesus)
  • Revelation - 1
  • Ezekiel - 1
  • Malachi - 1

The frequent use of the word "peace" in English translations (361 times: 269 in the Old Testament and 92 New Testament), which unfortunately has a military connotation today, could often be better translated as "healing."

Examples

From Exodus 15:26:

and He said: 'If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in His eyes, and wilt give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases upon thee, which I have put upon the Egyptians; for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

From Deuteronomy 32:39

See now that I, even I, am He, and there is no god with Me; I kill, and I make alive;
I have wounded, and I heal; and there is none that can deliver out of My hand.[2]

From Isaiah 58:8 (ESV):

Then shall your light break forth like the dawn,
and your healing shall spring up speedily;
your righteousness shall go before you;
the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.

From Malachi 4:2 (ESV):

But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall.

From Proverbs 3:5-8 :

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
7Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
8It will be healing to your flesh
and refreshment to your bones.[3]

From Psalm 41:5:

As for me, I said: 'O LORD, be gracious unto me; heal my soul; for I have sinned against Thee.'

From Psalm 107:20 (ESV):

He sent out his word and healed them,
and delivered them from their destruction.

From Psalm 147:3:

He sent out his word and healed them,
Who healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

From James 5:14-15 (ESV):

Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

In addition, the word "healing" could substitite for peace in these verses from Psalms:
Psalm 29:11 :

The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.

Psalm 34:14 :

Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.
