Idiot savant

An idiot savant (more properly called autistic savant) is an extreme form of autism in which the person with the disorder cannot manage to perform simple activities without assistance but is a genius in one narrow field, usually mathematics. Savants usually can calculate complicated mathematical problems with lightning speed and razor sharp accuracy and also usually have extremely good memories. There are only approximately 50 idiot savants in the world at a time. One example is Daniel Tammet, a British savant who is gifted in both mathematics and linguistics and memorized the first 22,514 digits of Pi.
