Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is natural gas that is cooled into a liquid state for shipping and storage.

Very cold temperatures are required to do this, roughly , at about -260° Fahrenheit.

Dispute with France

In October 2022, during the Russia-Ukraine War, France complained about high LNG prices on imports of it from the United States:

U.S. natural gas exports to France increased 421% during the first eight months of 2022—but the value of that LNG increased by 1094% in August alone due to the higher prices of LNG.[1]
