Marilyn vos Savant has been certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as having the highest IQ of any living woman. For over 20 years she has run a column in Parade magazine titled Ask Marilyn, which features clever puzzles, intellectual games and well-reasoned opinion.

Her spouse is Robert Jarvik, inventor of the artificial heart. She espouses conservative views, supporting President George W. Bush's veto of stem cell research thusly:

Americans prefer to elect Presidents whose value systems grow from their religious beliefs. (That’s why an atheist — whose values are chosen, not established — has never been elected.) We expect the President to act on his values. So [vetoing stem cell research] is not the same as mixing church and state.[1]

As an example of the insight she has on American values, a quote on liberty:

How can we live in freedom and maintain that we are entitled to *anything* that we can't get without the labor of others? Remember, if we are entitled to the labor of others, that makes slaves of those others.[2]
