Marquand is a city in eastern Madison County, Missouri. It had a population of 203 at the 2010 census.

History

Marquand was laid out in 1869 by Henry Whitener, an early settler, simultaneous with the construction of the nearby St. Louis and Iron Mountain Railroad (later part of the Missouri Pacific Railroad). The town was named for W. G. Marquand, one of the railroad's directors, who had donated a thousand dollars for the construction of a Methodist church in the new community.

The township in which Marquand is located was originally named German Township, but later changed to Marquand Township due to anti-German sentiment during World War I.[1]
