Pain and the Bible

Pain and the Bible concerns use of the Bible to overcome physical and emotional pain, which afflicts all. One out of every five Americans suffers from chronic pain.

The ESV Bible uses the word "pain" a total of 59 times, including 42 in the Old Testament and 17 in the New Testament. Many additional verses are very powerful for overcoming pain without mentioning the term itself.

Revelation

Revelation 21:4 contains this message against pain - "... He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” (ESV)
