Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria is the current Pope of the Coptic Orthodox Church. He has helped the Copts improve their relations with Israel by visiting Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, after previous Popes avoided the city. He spoke out in support of the successful Egyptian Revolution in 2014, aiding in the toppling the anti-Christian regime that had been ruling there, and building good relations between the Coptic Church and Egyptian Opposition.
