Racial preferences

Racial preferences are a form of affirmative action whereby a certain number of positions at a university or workplace are reserved for a racial group based on the color of their skin or their gender. Conservatives call these "quotas" and "reverse discrimination," and oppose any scheme whereby more qualified applicants are denied the position based on their race.[1]

Setting aside a number of positions for member of groups which previously suffered discrimination is favored by liberals.
