This Essay is absolute deceptive idiocy. Russia and Saudi Arabia are net exporters of oil, the US barely produces 50% of its own domestic consumption. And it still relies heavily on oil export countries. RobSZelensky didn't kill himself 09:09, February 5, 2024 (EST)

:"U.S. crude production is headed for a record 13.8 million bpd in 2026, yet the EIA expects distillate stocks to fall below 100 million barrels and stay under the five-year range through much of 2027.
:Refiners can’t simply make more diesel. Distillate is about 30% of U.S. refinery yield, utilization averaged roughly 96% last quarter, and operable capacity fell about 250,000 bpd from a year earlier."

:::This even relates to the fact that you don't understand the guns or butter argument. Diesel and military jet fuel come from the same limited supply of crude oil middle distillates. === The Power of U.S. Oil Production ===

"A foundational pillar of America’s relative strength over the last five years is its unprecedented energy revolution. The U.S. has firmly cemented its position as the largest oil producer in global history.

• Record-Breaking Output: According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), U.S. crude oil production is on track to average a record 13.8 million barrels per day (b/d) in 2026, surpassing the previous historic record of 13.7 million b/d set in 2025.

• Geopolitical Insulation: This massive output—driven primarily by fracking and efficiency gains in the Permian Basin of Texas and New Mexico—means the U.S. produces roughly 18.4% of the world’s total oil supply.

• The Geopolitical Offset: While the U.S. is still tethered to global market prices because it is also the world's largest consumer, its massive supply acts as a vital geopolitical buffer. When conflicts in the Middle East threaten global energy hubs, or when the West cuts off Russian energy exports, surging U.S. oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports step in to stabilize allied economies (particularly in Europe), weakening the ability of OPEC, Russia, or Iran to use energy as an economic weapon."

::::Answer the dang question:

<big><big><big>Why then is the US spending $5 Billion to support the Russian war machine?</big></big></big>

::::Using big font doesn't make the question less crazier. The US is temporarily spending money for Russian diesel because temperarily it is in short supply. Trump puts US interests ahead of Ukrainian interests. But the rest of the tougher sanctions on Russia signed by Trump are still in effect. The European Union (EU) is collectively one of the largest and most important trading partners of the United States.

::::With that being said, the Russo-Ukraine War is bad for Russia economically and demographically. It is a war of attrition boondoggle and quagmire. Conservative (talk) 11:31, October 11, 2026 (EDT)

:::::OK, let me get this straight: The US is in short supply because of Trump's unpopular war against Iran (despite the fact the USA is outproducing Russia and Saudi Arabia in oil production. The best is yet to come); waiving the Lindsay Graham Sanctions Bill that imposes 100% tariffs on purchasers of Russian oil that Trump just signed is brilliant. And it comes at a time when the Kyiv regime is flat on its back and may not survive the winter until April 2027 when Russian sanctions relief expire.

:::::The more you talk, the more you sound like James Carville. No wonder the GOP is getting crushed. Foghorn LeghornDo normal heterosexuals spend 20 yrs obsessing over gay bars, bathhouses and drag queens? 11:40, October 11, 2026 (EDT)
