'''Nephi''' was a [[Book of Mormon]] patriarch and [[prophet]] known for helping his father Lehi travel out of Jerusalem towards the new promised land. The new promised land was located somewhere in the Americas, as the story demonstrates. 

According to the Book of Mormon, he was the author of the books of 1 Nephi and 2 Nephi, in which [[Moroni]] later edited his work.
