West Yorkshire

West Yorkshire is an area of England that is currently a county for the purposes of lieutenancy, combined authority and, between 1974 and 1986, formed the area administered by the now-defucnt West Yorkshire County Council. It is also co-extensive with the areas served by West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and West Yorkshire Police. As of 2024, it consists of the combined council areas of City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council, Kirklees Council, Leeds City Council and Wakefield Council, which all cover parts of the West Riding of Yorkshire, plus Calderdale Council, which covers part of the West Riding with the addition of a small area of Lancashire.
