The '''Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists''' is a nonprofit organization that addresses global [[security]] issues related to [[nuclear weapon]]s, [[climate change]], and emerging technologies.

It is best known for its symbolic [[Doomsday Clock]], prominently featured on the front cover of its magazine (of the same name as the organization).  Using midnight as a representation of a hypothetical global catastrophe (influenced by nuclear warfare, AI, and climate change), the Clock shows the number of minutes (and, more recently, seconds) to midnight that it believes humanity is close to being.  The Clock was introduced in 1947, and any changes to the time (when made) are featured in the January edition along with the group's explanation.  The furthest from midnight was in 1991 (17 minutes), while the closest was in 2026 (85 seconds, or one minute and 25 seconds).
