'''The Left''' (German: '''Die Linke''') is a [[far-Left]] German political party.  It was founded by a merger of the parties "Labour and Social Justice – The Electoral Alternative", a party of former [[SPD]]-members and the "Party of Democratic Socialism", which is the subsequent party of the "[[Socialist Unity Party of Germany]]".  It has created the organization "Cuba Sí", which supports the dictatorial Communist regime of [[Cuba]].  The Left wants to fully legalize [[abortion]] and [[same-sex "marriage"]] with adoption.  Further, it demands to legalize drugs and it wants to withdraw from [[NATO]] and abolish the German military (Bundeswehr).

The Left is the fourth strongest party of Germany.  Its current leaders are Katja Kipping and Bernd Riexinger.
