'''Hernán Lara Zavala''' (Hopelchén, 1946 - ) is a [[Mexican]] author, editor and university professor. He earned a Master's degree in Letras Hispánicas at the UNAM, and studied "Estudios sobre la novela" at East Anglia University, England, 1981. 

Lara was awarded the 2010 Royal Academy of the Spanish Language prize. His novel ''Peninsula, Peninsula'' was honored in 2009 with the Elena Poniatowska Ibero-American Prize.
