'''Peter Abelard''' (1079-1142) was a prominent [[French]] [[medieval]] scholastic who used logic and questioning to discuss issues of religious controversy in his ''Sic et Non'' ("Yes and No").

Other prominent scholastics in that time period were [[Anselm of Canterbury]] (St. Anselm) and [[Thomas Aquinas]].

Abelard had an affair with Heloise, one of his students.  In later life he became a monk.
