A '''shorthanded goal''' is an [[ice hockey]] term used to describe a goal by team who has at least one teammate serving a penalty.  That is, the opposing team has 5 players while the scoring team only has 3 or 4.  These are very rare goals in the [[NHL]] and mostly require a mistake by the team that is on the [[power play]].
