==Contradiction==
The current opening paragraph reads(bolding added by me for clarity)
<blockquote>
The dire wolf was a pre-historic form of wolf which '''was larger than present varieties of wolf'''. According to the Illinois State Museum, "The dire wolf was not quite like any animal surviving today. It was '''similar in overall size and mass to a large modern gray wolf'''. This means it was about 1.5 meters (5 feet) long and weighed about 50 kilograms (110 pounds) on average."
</blockquote>
I know next to nothing about the Dire Wolf, so I'm not going to touch the article myself, but I would suggest that someone who knows what they are talking about take a look at which statement is correct and make the appropriate corrections asap... [[User:Fnarrow|Fnarrow]] 00:17, 10 May 2013 (EDT)
