Supersede v. Supercede
I will give you a reason why I prefer supercede' to supersede. The word cede is a word on its own. Its simplest meaning is to give way or yield. It has both French and Latin roots which I won't explain here because I might have to use an accent and Vargas will get annoyed if I get it wrong. Cede and its variations - ceed, cess etc. make up part of dozens of compound words like proceed, succeed, accede, concede, process, access, recede and so on into longer words like procession and intercession. I find it strange that antecedents - those that have gone before - can have a different spelling to a word referring to that that comes after or replaces.
Also, supersedes looks wrong. Don't mock that, David. It's late Sunday afternoon here and earlier, my daughter, in her mid twenties, had a sort of afternoon tea with 6 or 7 of her friends; all of them university graduates, all of whom she had met either at uni or working as guides at historic sites or museums. I typed both spellings and distributed it to the assembled ladies. They all were happier with cede. And please remember that many books used for academic purposes in Australian unis and colleges use American English, so it is not as though they are unfamiliar with your spelling.
I am all for a bot for standardisation of certain forms used in wikis, but not when it interferes with the vernacular of the editors.

:That makes sense--I'll try to avoid/revert such changes.  I'm still looking for a better bot solution/system, mainly because the one I have now is limited.  For example, such edit rules are stored in units, which I do not currently have the expertise to edit.  I can add/remove units, but have little more control, other than checking and approving/denying each edit.  I'll either watch for and prevent this change, or delete that unit, so it hopefully will not do that again.  I always appreciate suggestions.  This is intended to help, but if it is or will be more of a pest than a help, I'll shut it down.
:I am looking into a way to work around this unit system, but I may need to create several wiki pages to store the rulesets on.  Probably no one would mind this, but I should ask first.  If it doesn't work, it might be hard to get someone to delete the pages, but, eh, that's a problem for later.  I'll see if I can customize this more.
