View source for Z-axis

The '''z-axis''' is the [[axis]] that comes out of the page. It gives the world a third [[dimension]], [[depth]].  If the [[x-axis]] and [[y-axis]] were arranged on your computer screen in the usual way (as illustrated in their respective articles), the z-axis would be a line pointing directly out of the screen.
