Agree, accepted ''without question'' is just wrong
In "The Apostle John is accepted without question as the author of the Fourth Gospel.", who does the accepting? It isn't "everybody" as even the most cursory search will show; see for instance [http://www.earlychristianwritings.com/john.html|this] and [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gospel_according_to_John#Authorship|this].
