The Echidna are egg-laying mammals (monotremes) native to regions in Australia and New Guinea. They have small, spiny bodies, along with stout legs which are well suited for digging into logs and soil. When threatened, the echidna will curl into a spiny ball. Termites make up the majority of an echidna's diet.
