An Investment Bank is a financial institution that provides several services. They act as underwriters, facilitate mergers and other corporate reorganizations between companies, and act as intermediary between investors and issuers of equity and debt. They also provide brokerage services to both individual and institutional clients.
Prominent investment banks include Morgan Stanley, Lazard, Goldman Sachs, Barclays and Citibank.
