Spanish Painting has a rich and famous collection of artworks. Among his artists are some of the greatest in art history. Names like El Greco, Diego Velazquez, Bartolomé Esteban Murillo, Francisco de Goya, Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró and Salvador Dali represent some of the most valued artist in painting.

The Spanish Golden Age, seventeenth century, produced outstanding artworks in Mannerist and Baroque style. The Burial of Count Orgaz, Las Meninas, Surrender of Breda, The Painter Before Christ Crucified, Dead Christ Supported by the Angel, and Boys Eating Melon are some of this great masterpieces.

Diego Velázquez as a portraitist is acknowledged as one of the greatest painters. In the 18th century Goya dominated Spanish painting. Picasso is considered one of the most prolific artists in history and a major figure in 20th-century art. Salvador Dali was probably the greatest Surrealist artist using bizarre dream imagery to create unforgettable and unmistakable landscapes of his inner world. [1]

Modern Spanish painting is studied in styles and movements like: Impressionism, Symbolism, Cubism, and Surrealism.

Spain has such a strong artistic tradition that Spanish art has become a leading attraction for tourism. [2]
