Bulgaria is a country in eastern Europe, on the coast of the Black Sea. It has land borders with Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, Serbia and Romania (along the course of the Danube River).
The population is just over seven million. The capital is Sofia.
Bulgaria was a member of the Axis in World War II, and subsequently a member of the Warsaw Pact. It is currently a member of NATO and the European Union.
