Stephen Spielberg film
E.T. was the main character of an enormously popular Stephen Speilberg film about a cute Extraterrestrial left behind on a scientific expedition studying earthly life. The move was so realistic that fans tend to forget that it is only science fiction (see also Contact (1997)).
