Huitzilopochtli is the name used by the Aztecs to refer to the devil. They ritually murdered thousands of people to satisfy his thirst for blood, before they were mostly wiped out in the 16th century.
Some rural Mexicans may still worship Huitzilopochtli.[Citation Needed]
