The renaissance period in music was, as in many other fields of human endeavor, a tremendous outpouring of creativity and spirit after the stifling centuries of the middle ages. As classical music has tended to reflect the energies of the age in which it is made, this period is marked by a great and passionate, yet intelligent and thoughtful, devotion to God and Christianity.
Prominent composers that mark this era are:
- Dufay
- Josquin
- Palestrina
- Lassus
- Byrd Victoria
